American billionaire opens a mental health clinic to treat veterans and their families free of cost
Billionaire Steven A. Cohen launched his $275 million charitable project – the Cohen Veterans Network – in 2016, wherein he planned to build a network of clinics for veterans across the country. Under the project, an all-new mental health clinic to treat veterans and their families opened up in Colorado.
“Every day, many veterans and their families are living with the mental and physical scars from serving their country during military service. The Cohen Veterans Network, a not-for-profit philanthropic organization, was created to serve them by providing high-quality, accessible, and integrated mental health care,” the CVN website states.
The clinics serve all post-9/11 veterans, regardless of whether they were honorably discharged or not. The clinics also provide services to veterans’ family members or other people – such as girlfriends or boyfriends – whom the veterans identify as caregivers.
Services are provided free of charge to people without insurance. Those with insurance can access care for only the cost of a copay — usually just a few dollars.
