Teacher’s efforts to teach computer sciences to his students without any actual computers wins the hearts of Microsoft bosses
Most schools in Ghana are not equipped with computers, but that does not deter dedicated teachers from teaching computer sciences to their students. One such teacher is 33-year-old Owura Kwadwo Hottish, who manages to teach his students computer science by spending a good thirty minutes before every class drawing detailed diagrams of different computer programs on the blackboard.
When Hottish posted photos of his drawings on Facebook, he had little idea that they’d go viral. The drawings, which featured a startlingly accurate depiction of Microsoft Office, impressed thousands of social media users around the world. Not only that, but it caught the attention of Microsoft too!
Spurred to help the school, the tech company started out by sending Hottish to an international educators’ conference in Singapore, where the teacher received a standing ovation. Microsoft is also working with local organizations to give the school an entire computer lab.
