The chef who served over 3 million meals in Puerto Rico is again feeding people affected by Hurricane Florence
When Puerto Rico was battered by Hurricane Maria, celebrity chef José Andrés and his team of volunteers took it upon themselves to feed the survivors. It is reported that Andrés and his army of 25,000 volunteers, including members of the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard, served over 3 million meals in Puerto Rico over a period of 11 months.
Now as Hurricane Florence has hit the Carolinas, Andrés and his team of cooks and volunteers are all set to feed everybody throughout the storm.
People in the D.C. area know Andrés from his popular restaurants such as Jaleo, China Chilcano, Oyamel, Zaytinya, Fish and minibar. But he is also responsible for feeding hundreds of thousands of hungry Americans when disaster strikes.
Andrés has fed victims in the wake of many natural disasters over the years, including the earthquake in Haiti in 2010. Because of social media, his work in Puerto Rico last year after Hurricane Maria got global attention.
