This Police Officer adopted homeless addict couple’s baby, is helping them quit drugs
In late September, Albuquerque Police Officer Ryan Holets came across a heroin-addicted couple outside a convenience store. He noticed that the woman was pregnant and couldn’t stop himself from warning her that the addiction would probably kill her baby.
On hearing this, the woman broke down and emotionally told Holets that she desperately hoped someone would adopt her baby. And that’s exactly what he did…
Holets, who’s married with four children, adopted the woman’s baby girl born on October 12. The Holets family has named her Hope. “I was led by God to take the chance,” he said. “God brought us all together. I really don’t have any other way to explain it.”
Holets has also been quietly helping the addict couple find the right rehabilitation center and has given them a tablet computer so they can receive photos of Hope over email.
