This boy scout made ‘ear guards’ for healthcare providers that make wearing masks for prolonged period less painful
To make sure that healthcare workers working tirelessly on the frontlines of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic do not have sore ears at the end of their long shifts, Quinn Roney, a Canadian boy scout, has been using his 3D printer to create “ear guards” for them.
“Quinn answered a request from the local hospitals for help with creating ‘ear guards’ to help take the pressure off health care workers ears from wearing masks all day,” his mother, Heather Roney said in a Facebook post.
“He got busy on his 3D printer and has been turning out dozens of ear guards to donate.”
The ear guards stretch across the back of the head and secure the straps of surgical masks, so they don’t pull on the ears and create tension. The strap also includes several rigged pieces across the length to allow healthcare workers to adjust it to fit perfectly.
Heather’s post has been well received with over 277,000 shares.
