Tel Aviv will soon be world’s first city with an electric road that can charge public transportation

Tel Aviv is all set to be the first city in the world to run a fleet of specially equipped electric buses that won’t need any expensive batteries, or frequently go to gas stations or charging stations. These buses will be capable of being charged directly from under-road electric infrastructure as they run on a specially constructed electric road.

Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, in partnership with ElectReon and Dan Bus Company, has launched a pilot to install wireless electric roads for charging public transportation in the city.

Following the completion of tests and integration of the technology, a Dan Bus Company electric bus will commence regular journeys on the route, serving passengers traveling to Tel Aviv University.
